New kit.....

Ok folks....back to work day for me....but the weekend was AWESOME!!! A co-worker of mine who happens to also be a musician had been trying to sell this drumset for a while now... His girlfriend told him to get rid of it or it goes in the trash. He asked me on Friday if I wanted a drumset. I asked about strings and costs...He said "No strings. No cost..." I said..."Is the Pope friggin' Catholic?"

So, I got a free drumset with almost everything I had when I was gigging out with my band a while ago ( 1996-2000 ). YAY!! ...

Best part is my wife actually likes hearing me play. She actually told me to go and play at 9 in the morning yesterday... w00t!!!

Then to top that off... I go over to Phad's place for some cooking out yesterday and got my conga back from him that he had for 7 and a half years... ( that's the best estimate we had... ) .... but wait, there's more. HE ALSO gave me one of his conga's ( Called a tumba and yes there WERE Arnold references going around ) so...now I have my full kit plus two congas and a lot of catching up to do....:D

I sort of inherrited the Conga when he left for Virginia back in 2000. At the time we had sorta worked it out that I was going to move up there with them, since I wasn't really that happy with Atlanta. Well, I ended up not moving and just sorta hung onto the Conga until I could get it back to him.... somehow. I started working on my own and with Finn's old band to get my stage legs. After about a year of dealing strictly in hand percussion, I scored a leading gig at the Atlanta High Museum of Art to accompany an exhibit. I played at a host of different places with different musicians around town and had a lot of fun. I never really made any money off of it though. Still -- it was a lot of fun.
